Alex Volk (FR) (g, 3, Golden Horde {Ire}--Albanka, by Giant's Causeway), (...) stalked the leader in second for most of this debut. Rowed along in early straight, the 19-10 second choice inched forward to challenge approaching the final furlong and was pushed out to prevail by a half-length from Kohana (GB) (Hello Youmzain {Fr}). Alex Volk is the ninth of 10 foals and third scorer thrown by a half-sister to the Group 1 winning trio Sleepytime (Ire) (Royal Academy), Ali-Royal (Ire) (Royal Academy) and Taipan (Ire) (Last Tycoon {Ire}). His second dam is the stakes-winning 1997 broodmare of the year Alidiva (Ire) (Chief Singer {Ire}). The April-foaled homebred chestnut is a full-brother to the unraced 2-year-old colt Veneto (Fr). He is also a half-brother to the dual Group 1-placed G3 Oh So Sharp Stakes victrix Altyn Orda (Ire) (Kyllachy {GB}), herself the dam of Listed Prix Madame Jean Couturie runner-up Alakai (Fr) (Sea The Stars {Ire}). Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, €10,500.
