Danara makes Classic Entry look worth it

Danara (Sea The Stars) is entered in the Gr.1 Prix de Diane and got her career off to a flying start with victory here, needing to be nudged along at intervals to maintain her position during the race but finding plenty in the straight to win decisively.

She is a half-sister to the Gr.3 Prix Vanteaux winner Dare To Dream (Camelot), who was a close-up fifth in last year’s Prix de Diane, and the fourth winner out of the Listed-placed French winner Debutante (Gold Away). The last-named is a half-sister to the Gr.1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe heroine Danedream (Lomitas; dam of the Listed-placed winner Faylaq and grandam of the Gr.1- placed Japanese winner Rouge Eveil), the Gr.2 Queen’s Vase winner and Gr.1 St Leger second Illinois, the Gr.3 Chester Vase winner and Gr.1-placed Venice Beach and the Irish Gr.3 winner Broadway (last trio all by Galileo). They are out of the unraced Danedrop (Danehill), a half-sister to the dams of the Italian Gr.3 winner and Gr.1-placed Saratoga Black (Pyrus) and the Listed Prix Yacowlef winner Roseanna (Anabaa). This family extends directly back to the Gr.1 Prix Royal-Oak winner and highly influential matriarch Lady Berry (Violon D’Ingres), whose nine winning offspring include the Gr.1 Grand Prix de Paris winner and sire Le Nain Jaune (Pharly), the Gr.1 Prix Vermeille winner Indian Rose (General Holme) and the Gr.1 Prix Ganay winner and sire Vert Amande (Kenmare). Debutante has a two-year-old filly by Zelzal named Daiana and a yearling full-brother to Danara.
