Le Havre: New Stakes Winner!

Successful in three of her first four outings, Jupyra had failed to flourish in five starts since and went postward for this coming back off unplaced efforts in Clairefontaine=s Aug. 1 Listed Prix Luth Enchantee and here in the Sept. 14 Listed Prix des Tourelles last time. Positioned behind the leaders along the fence for the most part, she made stealthy headway along the far side rail in the straight and was ridden out inside the final furlong to secure a first stakes rosette in game fashion.

She was way below the best on ratings and we'd hoped for a place so I can't deny that this is a huge surprise, admitted trainer Mikel Delzangles. That said, she is a filly who has always showed us good things in the mornings at home and she finally displayed some of that class on the track. The soft ground, in tandem with a great ride, definitely helped. We will probably come back here for the [Oct. 23 G3] Prix de Flore.

Jupyra, half-sister to a yearling filly by Wootton Bassett (GB), is the fourth of six foals and one of three scorers produced by a multiple-winning half to Listed Prix Georges Trabaud runner-up Face Surface (Ger) (Turtle Bowl {Ire}).
